How appropriate that the sailor is at the marina...surrounded by water and waiting for...his ship? his family? That's one of the wonders of art - we all get to interpret it in our own way.
Lisa, it is the perfect spot!
Jo Soss in Bremerton: I love reading your post about the Bremerton and PSNS Kitsap happenings (it makes me feel like I am at home). I hope your post on the Lone Sailor brings additonal donations for newest art monument to join the downtown revitaliztion of Bremerton WA. I look forwarding to seeing your coverage on the dedication ceremony of the Lone Sailor in Bremerton WA.
You sound so confident on your videos - tomorrow I have to video for a client - and I hope I sound as confident as you do - what a beautiful day you had - I was surprised the wind was not more of an issue for you -
That is exciting, and Local, yeah! I did not know about this . I should get the kids involved and donate. Thank You for sharing!-Dinah
Michelle, I hope that I can attend the ceremony. When you are home you just need to go and walk the new marina!
Thesa, it was a beautiful day and I thought for sure the wind would mess with the sound, I was surprised. You will do fine! Just act like you are talking to your BFF when you film :)
Dinah, If you haven't been to the new marina you should go - it is amazing to walk clear out there!
Jo-
My dad was 20 years Navy and one year I gave him a replica of the "Lone Sailor" for his Desk. We also listed him and my Grandfather, both Veterans, in the Navy Archives at the Navy Memorial. It's a wonderful memorial and a fascinating place to visit in DC.
We also have a Replica of the "Lone Sailor" and the "Homecoming" statue here in Norfolk, Va at Town Point Park.
Bryant, How cool! My husband has the one for the desk. I need get the others for him. The Homecoming statue would be way cool to have here too - it costs so much to acquire. Thanks so much for your conversation! Thank your father for his service! and your Grandfather!
Jo-
Thank you for this wonderful post and thank your husband for his service to our country. By the way I am adding this post as a featured post in the "Things to do/Places to Visit" Group, Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
Bryant, Cool - always love the feature :) My husband watched the video in Anchorage AK where his is currently stationed. Wish we could have seen this together - but we will someday.
Jo- Very cool video! I am glad that things are looking so promising in Bremerton! Keep sharing the news with all of us!
Best,
Scott
Jo as usual your have got the happening of Bremerton covered well. The Lone Sailor Project obviously has gone well!
Scott, You really have to see all that is new on the boardwalk - bring the wife for a lunch at Anthony's some Saturday and enjoy!
Bill, It is an amazing project! I love spending time downtown!
