The "Concerts on the Boardwalk" series starts tonight!

For the next four Friday nights you can spend an amazing time down on the water with music and amazing views. The concert series is sponsored by the Bremerton Main Stream Association and is one of the most popular. If you want you can tie up at the new Bremerton Marina too. The Bremerton Boardwalk area is one of the most fun in the Kitsap County.

Be Irish for the day by joining in the fun in downtown Bremerton on Saint Patrick’s Day. This year there is a new route to include the new tunnel, You can download the map HERE.

Following the parade everyone meets at the fountain between Hampton Inn Hotel and the Kitsap Convention Center for some music and fun things to do, provided by the City of Bremerton Parks and Recreation. Bring a camera and have your picture taken as a Leprachaun and kiss the Brem-Blarney Stone.

Sit out on the Bremerton Marina benches clear out in the water. See the Lone Sailor Monument. Walk over to the USS Turner Joy and take a tour. Head down to the Harborside Fountain Park and put your feet in the water. Walk over to the Naval Museum and then take a look at the new PSNS Memorial Park. Bremerton Boat Show - Bremerton Marina - Harborside District - Jan 22nd - 24th

This coming weekend is the 2nd Annual Bremerton Boat Show down at the new Bremerton Marina. If you haven't been down to the new Bremerton Marina this would be a great weekend to check it out. I love going down to the marina and just hanging out.

You can ride the ferry and walk off and you will be right at the show or you could drive downtown where there is plenty of parking right at the marina. You could also cruise on over and enjoy one of 50 guest morrage slips available.

Bremerton Photos | Hyper Local Pictures | Bremerton Blackberry Festival

Every area has their "trademark" festival and Bremerton is no different. Every Labor Day Weekend you will find everyone DOWNTOWN – HARBORSIDE! The Annual Blackberry Festival is held down on the Bremerton Boardwalk.

There are always over 100 booths with everything from arts & crafts to you guessed it "FOOD"! You know what kind of food I am talking about! Hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, chicken burgers, BBQ ribs, chicken and beef brisket, corn on the cob and oh man dare I say more!?

You will also find tons of amazing ethnic foods like teriyaki, shrimp on a stick, spring rolls, gyros, crepes and tacos! Don't forget the Blackberry delights!! Blackberry slugs, scones, pie and that amazing Blackberry shortcake!! After all it is the Blackberry Festival.

I don't know why I love it so – I sure hate those pesky bushes creeping up in my flower beds!! But on this weekend they are my friend!!

There are these five copper fountains that "burst" water into the air at different times and different intervals. I had no idea. I was just watching the water fall down the sides when all of a sudden "burst" and with this loud swishing water sound out came this large stream of water. I was so caught off guard that I screamed!! I was the only one in the park so that made me laugh!!

Bremerton Attraction : Terrorist Blockade to PSNS Memorial Plaza

From terrorist blockade to PSNS Memorial Plaza.

After the September 11 attacks security for military installations around the country implemented new security measures, and bases in Kitsap County followed suit. The Navy proceeded to purchase land in downtown Bremerton adjacent to the Bremerton Puget Sound Naval Shipyard entrance for a security buffer. Instead of looking at some jersey barriers along the sidewalk the City of Bremerton had a vision that would lead to the creation of PSNS Memorial Plaza.

The now complete park prevents vehicles from driving into the shipyard fence and its gorgeous with lots of plantings, fountains, cut and polished boulders, a ship's bow and a history lesson!

The bow is from the Guided Missile Cruiser USS South Carolina.

The park is a history lesson of the shipyard. There are three sections, women workers of WWI near Burwell Street, in the middle World War II history and at the bottom the area honoring today's shipyard workers.

On Sunday I went down with my video camera to capture this unique and gorgeous Bremerton feature. I had been down a few weeks ago but hadn't carried my camera. Sunday was a gorgeous day and I really enjoyed my time there. While video taping a Navy Veteran stopped me to ask some questions. Lots of Navy Veterans visit Bremerton and the shipyard probably because they served here at one time in their career.

Once again the Downtown Bremerton Association is sponsoring a fun-filled downtown event. What more could you ask for on the 4th of July except for something that reminds you of yesteryear and what a great place like the new revitalized Bremerton Downtown area.

Fourth Street Market will be open and provide vendors will all sorts of items from food, to crafts, to art. The Aurora Valentinetti Puppet Museum will provide a Magician along with puppet making.

You might want to dress up in your "Uncle Sam" attire and have your photo taken by the Roving Photographer and if you need some vintage clothing for that photo you can stop in to Ish Vintage Clothing and Pacific Northwest Costume for help.

I know CJ's Evergreen Market will be onhand - grab one of those burgers!!

There is going to be music, and signing and all the things that make a holiday like this special.

FREE ice cream will be provided - thanks to Puget Sound Dairy and Costco!

An Old Fashioned Fourth of July wouldn't be complete without games - GAMES!

Enter the jump rope contest or play some hop scotch!

After a day of fun take advantage of the Bremerton Boardwalk, the new Bremerton Marina and the Harborside Fountain Park. Have dinner out doors at Anthony's or take a picnic and sit on the steps looking over the waterfront!

Bremerton Flower Basket Sale

Bremerton WA Hanging Baskets I so enjoy springtime in downtown Bremerton! I love it when they bring out the flower baskets. I love hanging flower baskets and just put mine out this past weekend at home. So I was thinking about the annual Park and Rec Flower Basket and Plant sale. The flower baskets are smaller versions of the hanging planters which are placed on the City's Downtown streets each Summer. Here is the information!

The Park and Recreation Department will hold a Flower Basket and Plant sale from 8:00AM to 5:00PM on Friday, May 8th at the Sheridan Community Center 680 Lebo Boulevard.

Bremerton Marina - A North Woods Production

Ron Finney of North Woods Productions left a comment on my Port Orchard | The Video post about a new project that he completed in January for the Port of Bremerton's New Marina. Bremerton | Saint Patrick's Day Parade | Saturday, March 14th

The Bremerton Main Stream Association is hosting the 19th St Patrick's Day Parade. On Saturday, March 15th 2009 in Downtown Bremerton.

Schedule of Events

10:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m | Sign In at Westsound Bank (Sixth and Pacific)

11:30 a.m. | St. Patrick's Parade

The parade begins at Westsound Bank at 6th and Pacific. You know if you want you can even "march" in the parade! How fun that would be. I know when I was in high school the dance team I was on did the Spokane Lilac Torchlight parade and we always had fun. If you want to participate you must sign up at Westsound Bank on 6th at 10:45 a.m. The parade Grand Marshall is John Millis.

Citizens Write Plan “C” | Ferry Riders | Community Members | Rep. Larry Seaquist Has a Plan

If you ride the ferry, work on the ferry or are a member of communities that are served by the Washington Ferry System, which by the way is the largest in the country you may want to mark Saturday to help write a better ferry plan.

Rep. Larry Seaquist, D-Gig Harbor has advised the public that the two drafts of the Washington State Ferries’ long-range plan options – Plan A and Plan B are inadequate. Rep. Seaquist is leading the charge with a campaign called “Citizens Write Plan C”. Isn’t that just the coolest name of a committee you have seen?!

So Saturday plan to attend the project planning meeting at the Norm Dicks Government Center located at 345 Sixth Street, Bremerton at 9 am.

The "Lone Sailor Project" is over halfway funded and the casting has begun thanks to the support of the local community. It has been reported that all those donations under $100 are what has given the fund-raising project the boost to be able to boast over $210,000 in donations on the way to the $300,000 goal. The casting has now begun.... I had no idea of the plans to bring a replica of "The Lone Sailor" here to the Bremerton Marina! How exciting!! I was browsing the local newspaper The Kitsap Sun and came across the article, 'Lone Sailor' Bound for Bremerton Marina. The title intrigued me because I am the spouse of a USN sailor. As soon as I opened the link I knew what this was about. I have been to the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington D.C. I have stood next to this "Lone Sailor"! The "Lone Sailor" is one of the many focal points at the U.S. Navy Memorial that opened 20 years ago. The Bremerton statue will be the 11^thduplicate of the original in D.C. The Navy League will be planning the dedication ceremony so you will want to bookmark their site for the most current updates ==> Navy League of the US | Bremerton - Olympic Chapter. How exciting to have a "National Monument" here in Bremerton. The Navy League is asking for citizen input as to which direction the "Lone Sailor" should face so please go and VOTE. I voted for location number 1.

Bremerton Boardwalk Project - Community First

It can never be easy when it comes to cities, governments, tribal treaties and area residents. "It" can be anything, but for the City of Bremerton right now the "It" is the Bremerton Boardwalk Project. In February of this year I wrote a blog post about Bremerton's Revitalization and the Mayor's 2007 Harborside District Report. In my post I outlined the reasons that I enjoy the Bremerton Downtown area and how I enjoy living in an area that values the quality of the downtown core. I also wrote a blog post about the actual project,

Bremerton | Bremerton Boardwalk, Park & Sewer Project | Highest Priority

One of my most favorite Bremerton projects is the Bremerton Boardwalk, Park & Sewer Project. So today when I looked at one of the top stories of the local newspaper the Kitsap Sun, I was disappointed to see an article written by Christopher Dunagan titled, "Bremerton Continues Making Its Case for Boardwalk Project".

I am no politician, no activist; my views are never one extreme or the other. I sometimes just don't understand all the bureaucracy we have these days. I do understand that the past has scared the present when it comes to environmental impacts and I try to wrap my head around most of those issues.

I also try to respect the Indian Culture and Heritage that are strong in the Pacific Northwest. I understand we must protect the waterways, protect the way of life, be good citizens to mother earth, and yet I have this huge desire to want to see Bremerton become a shining star again.

I want to see the bustle and hustle that was downtown, I want to shop there, have dinner there and spend my Saturdays enjoying the city I live in. I want to feel safe while walking alone, I want people that are relocating to my city wanting to buy a home here. I want downtown Bremerton to be a "destination" like other cities in the Puget Sound area.

You want to know where the action will be this weekend in Bremerton? DOWNTOWN – HARBORSIDE! This is the weekend for the 19^th Annual Blackberry Festival held down on the Bremerton Boardwalk.

There will be over 100 booths with everything from arts & crafts to you guessed it "FOOD"! You know what kind of food I am talking about! Hamburgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, chicken burgers, BBQ ribs, chicken and beef brisket, corn on the cob and oh man dare I say more!?

You will also find tons of amazing ethnic foods like teriyaki, shrimp on a stick, spring rolls, gyros, crepes and tacos! Don't forget the Blackberry delights!! Blackberry slugs, scones, pie and that amazing Blackberry shortcake!! After all it is the Blackberry Festival.

I don't know why I love it so – I sure hate those pesky bushes creeping up in my flower beds!! But on this weekend they are my friend!! Of course you know it its down at the Boardwalk there is going to be music and lots of it! Here is the line up for this year:
